Booked for the best experience of my life!

Initially I was overcome with a multitude of excuses as to why I would never be able to be a part of the Cuban Experience Workshop, although I was very happy to gather supplies to donate to the cause.

I had previously gone to Cuba and was heart broken to see the reality of the number of animals wandering the street. Deciding then and there that the next time I was going to Cuba, it was to be making a difference for the animal population.

One evening, when I was frustrated with my work and trying to keep up with life, I decided that I needed a change of focus and contacted Dr. Kris & Tarra. After a brief conversation my concerns were eased and the next thing I knew, I was booked for what I would consider to be the best experience of my life.

I was skeptical as to how I would be able to make a difference in one week.

Dr. Kris & Tarra brought down a centrifuge and microscope to help the vets in Cuba be able to diagnose diseases that they would otherwise be guessing. A simple set of tests that we take for granted here in Canada was now made possible thanks to this very trip.

It was absolutely amazing to witness the look of gratitude and joy on the pet owners face when an answer to what was causing his dogs symptoms was revealed. Tears formed in the eyes of this dedicated pet owner from gratitude, knowing that his precious pet would soon have relief from the skin ailments. As a bystander it acted as a reminder as to how lucky we truly are.

Over all its very apparent that every little bit does make a difference. One cat sterilized, one skin condition resolved, one cat given preventative medication for flea/ticks/worms all counts towards helping save lives.

A perfect mix between the Cuban experience and vacation.

Although supplies that we brought to donate made a big impact, I personally feel that we also most importantly demonstrating that someone cares and acknowledging these individuals efforts. You don’t need a translator to understand the look of gratitude!

It is hard to believe that I was able to have this amazing experience, while also staying at an all inclusive resort. It was a perfect mix between this amazing Cuban Experience Workshop and an all-inclusive vacation.

Nothing could replace the feeling from this trip!

I've been on countless vacations, but I can 100% say that this one topped them all. We not only got to relax on the beach, but we also got to go out in the real streets of Cuba to explore, learn and help the vets with animals that needed treatment.

My favourite part was befriending the resort cats and eventually capturing them to get them neutered/spayed. When we released them back on the resort, we all just sat there amazed and immobilized with the behaviours we were witnessing. Nothing could replace that feeling, other than going back and doing it all over again!
